Dear Leprechaun, I really want to know your name, and want to know if you are a boy or a girl, and will you be friends with me? My name is Leslie Rose Watson. I am nine years old and I was born in 2000, February 18th. I was also wondering if you could clean my room and for payback I will let you stay in my house for the spring, and please make a hole in the wall and have a slide and a bouncy trampoline at the end and a treasure map and please give me a rat named Leslie Rose Watson, Jr., a female.
Sincerely. Leslie Rose Watson
P.S. I will help you clean the room if you wake me up.
Well, when I woke up, my room was still messy. Mom was making pancakes and they turned green like the always do on St. Patrick's Day. The milk too! While I was feeling sad about the leprechaun not answering my letter, the printer in my Dad's office started printing and there was a note from the leprechaun, and in green ink! It said:
Dear Leslie Rose Watson,
I’m afraid you have me confused with some other magical creature. We Leprechauns are mischievous and love to make messes – not clean them up. And we don’t leave presents – we take your things and hide them. We’re not bad or mean. We just like to have fun!
As far as bringing you a rat, you might want to ask the Easter Bunny. I hear he brings presents sometimes. But I saw your room. Where will you keep your rat? It’s pretty messy in there. Are you a Leprechaun, too?
Have fun today finding all the things I and my fellow Leprechauns have been hiding. Thanks for the offer to stay with you, but I would miss my family. I’ll come back to visit you again next year!
